In Maidenhead the emphasis is on high street brands but there are also some high-quality independent stores.

Why not walk over the Eton Bridge and follow the quaint main street of Eton until you reach

Cookham

The Royal Manor of Cookham was held by the Crown until 1818 and although many changes have taken place, the village has made the most of its position and is now one of the most popular Thameside resorts.  With its many superb restaurants and inns, including Bell and the Dragon dating from 1417 and reputedly one of the oldest licensed houses in England.

Cookham is one of a number of locations along the Thames where the colourful Swan Upping Ceremony takes place during the third week of July. This is the time when the Royal Swankeeper catches all new cygnets and assigns ownership.

Henley

There are a number of key annual events that attract people from all over the world, the most famous being Henley Royal Regatta and Henley Festival of the Music and Arts, when the town really does come alive!
